JOE SCOTT

BROWARD COUNTY SUPERVISOR OF ELECTIONS

Supervisor Joe Scott is the elected leader responsible for conducting all Federal, State, County, and municipal elections held in Broward County, Florida. Supervisor Scott’s professional career began as an Army Officer after graduating from The United States Military Academy at West Point. After serving in South Korea, he was promoted to Captain and went on to serve as an embedded advisor with the Iraqi Army. While serving in Iraq he earned a Combat Action Badge and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal. After his military service, Supervisor Scott earned an MBA from Villanova University and spent more than a decade in the private sector. Since he assumed his current role on January 5, 2021, Supervisor Scott has worked diligently to improve the capacity of the Supervisor of Elections office. He has focused on expanding in-person early voting as well as ensuring that everyone, who chooses to, can vote by mail. He has dramatically improved the communications infrastructure of the SOE office and was recognized for innovation with the Democracy Award for Best Practice of 2023 by The National Association of Elections Officials.
